We have been traveling a ton these last few weeks. Between trips I have picked a few things I wanted to get logged in the tally. I haven’t even looked at the garden since we got in late last night so this post is mostly just a record and I will work on a more complete post later, but I wanted to get in the numbers to see how much the produce is costing…
Harvest…
Just a few things pulled in between trips. The kids always devour the cucumbers the day we pick them. The tomatoes we snacked on on our trips. The zucchini are waiting in the fridge for frying. There are few things better than the first tender zucchini of the season, sliced and dipped in egg and flour and fried in a bit of oil. A touch of garlic salt and coarse ground pepper and on to a paper towel to drain. Sooooo good.

Costs:
No new costs this week.
*I have an extensive collection of seeds from prior years, seeds I saved from my own garden, and seeds that I am able to obtain for free every year at events hosted in our community and our community seed library, so my seed costs are pretty low.
Total: $128.83 for the year. About $6.96 per pound of produce, figuring 18 1/2 lbs. as a rounded figure. Getting better every tally!
Enjoy your harvest and feel free to leave a comment and let me know how you are doing! It is amazing the difference at the community garden verses the home (forest garden). 14 lbs. vs. 4 lbs. That is crazy. It is proving significantly more difficult to grow here. I am surprised the difference is so much. At least I have the community garden option. Go forth and grow!
